Do you think the pension age should be raised to 60? |
Travel Info Personally, I think it should be. Most people in their sixties can still carry on working. Examples....security guards, lorry drivers, construction workers. Unless of course, you already have a good stash in your bank. Travel Tips Depend on their physical condition and medical condition.I agree with you, here in the UK women retire at 60 and men at 65. Now there is talk of raising the womans age to 62. As the saying goes: "Many a good tune can be played on an old fiddle" hehehe! In the US we have fairly recently raised the age at which one can collect a full Social Security benefit to 67, up from 65. As for retiring, the earliest that one can collect from an IRA (individual retirement account) with out penalties is 59.5 Employer pensions vary and tend to require some combination of your age and years of service totaling some number, often with a minimum of about 15 years of service and a minimum age to begin collecting of 55. Under this type of pension the combined age and service tends to be something like 75 or even 85. Essentially this means that you need to start working for the company when you are 25, work for 30 years and then you can retire. No. 60 is way too old.. Especially for key positions. I've seen enough. Let us allow younger generation to take over in order to make things better for a change. Older generation has 'its either my way or the highway' mentality. But if a person's intelectual contribution is much needed when there is no other best choice, yes. edit: if a certain minister suck big time, it is unfair for the people to wait til he retire in order to see changes, what more increasing his retirement age, hahaha.. I think the older people can do one simple job in Malaysia, it's giving ticket at the Highway toll or other tolls in Malaysia, it's a very easy job, sitting in an air-cond room, suitable for the older people to handle this job and it's a source for the income of them too, although not much but enough for them to live their lives. But in Malaysia the youngsters do this job. Too easy for them. Yes, absolutely. Productivity should not be measured by age alone. |
