Do you think Astro is charging too much? Is it illegal to instal own sattelite disc? |
Travel Info I wanted to install satelite disc, it only costs me a one time RM1200 for over 200 channels including Sports channel, News, Discovery and all, but some said it is illegal. If we cannot get the right for our own source of satellite TV, then the Government is protecting a monopoly. Monopoly is bad to the consumer, as ASTRO may just hike prices as they wish like they used to do. I thought I initially signed for RM45 per month package, and today I found out the bill has been gradually increased to RM74 per month! I feel like being ripped off everymonth by Ananda Krishnan. A.S.T.R.O - Ananda's Set To Rip Off Travel Tips for not getting signals during rainy days - well yes and that is the biggest joke and you bet they are still sending you bills promptly every month; if you have been monitoring the charges, you probably know that you will 'usually' received 'free and exciting' channels first before your bills showed some increased in amount due - and these 'free' channels are not precisely what you have been anticipating for; too bad, the previous MiTV initiative didn't give a good fight... btw, you will stand a better chance of enjoying your own satellite programs if you are in east malaysia, those self-installed dishes at residential areas are at least ten times larger that your astro's Others The monopolized whole Malaysia market, that is why they can charge that high and there is no competition at all. personally i feel they over, over charge!!! the people. how good if we can get satellite TV. Its a RIP off alright! Yes, I think the price Astro charges is on the high side. However, it is illegal to install your own satelite disk without a license/permit. We realized long before you did that Astro is daylight robber. We stopped watching ages ago. they monopolize the market so r they charging too much? they can charge as high as they want. Regarding satellite disc, i don know how to apply for it but i see in sabah/sarawak some houses got it. Try borrow a wok from your mom and fix a antenna inside see got signal or not. Yes, Astro is charging way too much. The least they could do is to cut off all the advertisements. It could last from 5-7 minutes and it's a real nuisance. Pay for the channels and pay to watch advertisements too. i don't have astro at home and proud of it save my time and money $$ |
