Kopitiam or Coffee Bean?? |
Travel Info For cheapskate me, it's coffee shop and Hong Kong-style 'char chan teng'. Cheaper roti bakar and half-boiled eggs in the coffee shop and the tea/coffee/'cham' taste better in the Hong Kong-style cafe. Mamak teh-tarik also boleh tahan-lah. While I enjoy fancy coffee at Starbucks, its too pricey. In fact Starbucks coffee costs less in the airport in Frankfurt, after conversion from euros! Travel Tips if i go to coffeeshops, i order shuit cha (ice chinese tea) if i go to kopitiam, i order plain water.. im so cheapskate Others Kopitiam is my cup of tea. I prefer the pricing and variety of choices I'm spoilt for. In fact, this is what we all find in most Asian countries and these are the places that are worth for our money. I don't mind Coffee Beans at the airport or a once-a-year thing... to me, there's a lot more to compare with a 10RM cup of coffee. *** You are right, Starbucks is cheaper in Frankfurt, but we're living in KL right now, LOL... By the way, I'd never miss a cup of Kopi-ping in Chinese kopitiams... its the best! My choice is kopitiam everytime. There is one particular kopitiam near Kuching where myself and Mr Bean can watch the latest Hollywood/Bollywood movies on a huge TV screen with 4 tins of Tiger beer for only Rm10. if it's free Coffee Bean Call me old fashioned. I still prefer kopitiam coffee. Never like Coffee Beans anyway. for me, it will always be the old style kopitiam. for me...hot chocolate and 5 marshmallows...in my kitchen!!! |
