How expensive is a "bike" in malaysia? |
Travel Info I'm getting ready for a long stint in Malaysia again, and one of the other questions here made me ponder. I already have a company car there, E200 merc, but every time I go there I REALLLY miss my motorcycles(I have a Yahama R1, and an older R6). The problem is that most of the bikes I see in malaysia are really small displacement, and I don't particularly like that. I'd love to rip up to the highlands on a liter bike. What is the availability of at least a 600cc sport bike, rough cost new/used, and how bad will the road tax be? Thanks :) Travel Tips I had a 600cc Yamaha while in Malaysia but the problem is government policy. The reason 95% of Malaysians ride around on small bikes is because all banks/money lenders etc are not allowed to give credit for anything over a 200cc. Apparently the reason being was to curb the increasing motorbike gangs that were springing up. I paid RM 18,000 (cash) for mine and a year or so later when my wife started having babies I had to change to a car. I advertised my bike for sale and had about ten people interested, but once they had been to the bank for a small loan they was shocked that they were refused. Now it is rusting away in the front garden. So my friend if you really want a big bike think twice about it especially when you come to sell it because it becomes a white elephant. Others 50 bucks a day... and dont ask that question in england.. it means a whole nother thing http://www.yamaha-motor.com.my/... http://www.aprilia.com.my/index_flash.ht... |
