Bahasa Malaysia?

In malaysia, we seldom use bahasa malaysia in our communications.
This means that there's big a gap between races?
pls answer if you think you are a malaysian..

What? Are you kidding me? I learned Bahasa Malaysia because no one speaks English when I visited Malaysia in the late 90s. By the way, I was robbed at knife point in Kuala Lumpur and you know what, these bastards are memang bodoh.

are you sure? Bahasa Melayu is the most common language in Malaysia...besides, it's the official language...maybe you think that way because the people in your circle only speak english...most people in the urban areas like Petaling Jaya (places like that) might experience this...from what i see...but Malay language is still being used what? Seldom? I don't think so...

but i must agree that there's a gap between races, and to me...language is one of the reasons why this happens...if you ask me, i think everyone should not only learn Malay language and English language at school...but also other races' languages should be made compulsory...i was and still willing too...
Thats because you mainly use English amongst all races and it is so widely used that although the Dr M campaign to look East instead of West a few years ago, really only created a problem for one entire generation of recent graduates who now have a problem with communicating in the universal language of English.
The vast majority of Malaysians speak enough English to live by.
There is no real gap only a perceived one by the politicians
the language will help the communication among others. with my friends, some of them ( of course non-Malay ) will speaking london with me, but to reply it I prefer in Bahasa Melayu. The language is not the reason for ur problem. As long as we have a good communication, it is ok. ayam sama itik boleh berkawanlah!
Are you sure you're from Malaysia? I think most of Malaysian can communicate in Bahasa Malaysia fluently. There's no gap between races as they understand Bahasa Malaysia.

The only time when i need to use Bm is when i have to go to government agencies.Like applying for passport and making police reports.And the only time i listens to proper BM is from the news and radio.

I have several malaysian malay friends who dont even uses the normal BM.instead they prefers to chat happily in their kelantanese dialects.

To me BM is totally useless and without function.Maybe i lives in KL.

BM tends to borrows a lot of words from English language.terms like " diskussi","korupsi","kroni".It is not a rich language .This is my opinion.
However this is not a reason why it is causing a gap between different races and culturals in malaysia.The gap starts from the school.Too many religious school here.Anyway let that keris wielding man figures this out.after all he is the education minister.I wonders if schoolchildren allows to bring a keris to school.This is a clear example of a "gap"
yes nobody use proper bm, even the malays
yes there is gap, and the gap getting bigger.
the govt managed to get the gap smaller in late 70's but in the 80's until now the gap is qite big
