Malaysia passport with one month left? |
Travel Info hi my fren is a malaysian working in singapore, his passport is going to expiry on coming mid of march. he will like to knoe will if be a problem if he is going back to malaysia and after that re-entering spore as his passport did not have a validity of six month ? Travel Tips He don't have a problem if he entering Malaysia before the passport expired. He will have a problem to enter Singapore if he doesn't renew the passport. Immigration officer of both country won't let him pass the boarder. He should renew renew the passport when he return to Malaysia. It take only 1 hour (depends to the immigration office) to get a new passport. Maximum is 1 day. The cost would be about rm300. I don't think it would be too much comparing the fortune the he made in Singapore. Others yes, he might have trouble, better get it renewed soon.......... Passports A valid passport or other travel documents recognised by the Malaysian government are required by all nationals referred to in the chart above. The former must have enough pages for the embarkation stamp upon arrival and be valid for at least six months at date of entry. The latter should be endorsed with a valid re-entry permit. If not in possession of a passport or travel document, a document in lieu of passport must be obtained from any Malaysian Representation Office. Holders of travel documents such as a certificate of identity, a Laisser Passer, a Titre de Voyage or a country鈥檚 certificate of residence must ensure guarantee of return to country that issued the documents or the national鈥檚 country of residence. Visas Not required by nationals of countries referred to in the chart above for stays of up to three months; (1) nationals of Cyprus, Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Portugal and Slovenia may stay for up to one month. Visa Note (a) Nationals may still require a pass upon arrival, even if they are permitted to enter Malaysia visa-free. (b) Foreign women who are at least six months pregnant (unless in transit) may be denied entry. (c) All visitors must have proof of adequate funds and an onward or return sea or air ticket. (d) Nationals not referred to in the chart above are advised to contact the embassy to check visa requirements . http://www.worldtravelguide.net/country/... he will need to get a new passport to avoid any trouble with the authorities. Better safe then sorry. to what i know you will need 6 months validity. yes, he will have some problem later, just renew the pasport ok. he will definetely have problem wit that . ask him to renew in malaysia embassy in spore first b4 enterin malaysia. alternatively...he can renew it in malaysia but in malaysia they will withhold ur international passport for abt 24hrs b4 givin it back to u. so let him choose whichever way is convenient for him. a malaysian workin in spore wit a spore PR definately, the least he coulf do is to get to the nearest Embassy, consulate or representitive. there they will help renew his passport. |
