Travel Info Which are the best restaurants (not warung) serving malay food in KL? Travel Tips I have few choices: 1. restaurant selera kampung, jalan ampuan zabedah, section 9 shah alam. They serve malay breakfast items e.g: fried beehoon, nasi lemak, lontong etc. Lunch hour items consists of more malay dishes varieties. 2. Briyani King restaurant. (same row as selera kampung restaurant). As the name said, they serve briyani and many other malay dishes as well. However these selection of briyani is called briyani gum and it is the famous briyani gum of batu pahat. It is tastier than the mid eastern briyani and less hot than the indian briyani. 3. I also love laksa shack. They serve many types of laksa (noodles) but they also serve yummy rice dishes set. E.g.: authentic laksa johor, laksa penang, laksa sarawak, rice set of johor, rice set of malacca etc. This laksa shack restaurant is a franchise type of set up so u can find them in almost every mall. One of them is at Bangsar Village. 4. I would also opt for Paya Serai PJ Hilton high tea or lunch buffet. Teh tarik (the famous malaysian tea) and plenty of local desserts included. 5. For nice local malay ikan bakar, head to Restaurant Seri Menanti or any restaurants that opens behind the palace. They are open for lunch and dinner, close at 11pm. Malay restaurants that u should skip to avoid disapointment would be Chef Ismail Restaurant in Bangsar. They are open for lunch and dinner. The local malay dessert would sit on the buffet table from morning until restaurant's closing time. The quality of the dessert are terrible and the dishes are too hot and salty. I understand that those dishes are of negeri sembilan region, explaining why it's hot and spicy. But i have tasted better food, believe me it isnt worth it. Tried and tested a few times, thumbs down all the way. Restaurants to avoid: Others try eden village Jiak Guan Tel: 03 鈥?2143 2287 27, Tengkat Tong Shin, KL. Madam Kwan鈥檚 Tel: 03-2026 2298 420/421, Level 4, Suria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur Bijan, Bukit Bintang restaurant jaring in bandar sunway. errr...restaurant nelayan...(all seefood) 1) tupai tupai- near istana negara n jln dewan bahasa.. very relax, more to malay traditional concept, and peacefull place to eat. you can choose weather to sit at 'pondok style' or the normal indoor space. the food was ok. but i love to go there during fasting month, the buffet was so great n tasty. it's worth it! 2) kunang kunang restaurant- located in MMR2 next to proJET and Shell (b4 genting toll) I like the place a lot, cant find any in KL. seriusly! very cosy, relax n it's a garden concept!! more to nature enviroment. the local food was really虏 nice n western too. most of my frens like that place!! u should go and try it out.. 3) bora ombak- next to ampang sport centre, ampang point. more to balinese concept, really nice interior and they also have outdoor and indoor place. i like the pasta. nice place to hangout specially for big party. btw, i agree with poison ivy's comment bout chef ismail's restaurant called 'rebung'.i've been there b4 during the fasting month for buffet with my cousin and my fren. i was so excited coz everybody keep talking bout that place and it sound like i should go there and try some. but i was really dissapointed n peace off!! to be honest the food are so horrible and we pay like RM 50 for the buffet (if m not mistaken) for nothing. WTF! i think i can cook better!! i dont even finish my buffet and we just walk off!!!! such a waiste. that's gonna be the first and last!! sorry, but it's true ok. |
