Why most Malaysians do not appreciate/value value flowers?

Travel Info
In general, Malaysians do not know much about flowers surrounding them, let alone appreciating flowers. Most of them only know names of a few types of flowers like roses, hibiscus, orchid and chrysanthemum. They seldom buy flowers to decorate their homes unless there's any special occasion. The flower market here is still very small.

i agree with sarah. but i do love flowers. I have a huge balcony full of plants and exotic flowers. Every weekend i would fill up my vases with those white lilies, it lasts a week and it makes the whole house nice. I dislike fake flower arrangements. To me, fake flowers symbolise death. I used to love petunia, i bought a few bunch and tried to care for it. But there was this tiny bug killing all my petunias. I asked the nursery guy of how to rid it, he said there is nothing much i could do. Recently i have worm problem with my purple breed hibiscus. Those worms ate the leaves away. I had to chopped the stem off, now the leaves started sprouting again and i am a happy mom. My most recent issue is getting rid of scale bug from my curry plant. I separate the curry plant away from the rest and battles with the scaly bug everyday. Scaly bug is another nasty plant bug, they managed to kill both my jasmines and another two of my chinese roses. Nursery guys arent that knowledgeable. They sold me those bug spray which didnt work at all. I found out how to fight the bugs through the internet. So that answers your question. I agree that most malaysian didnt care much about the flowers and the greens. But there are some of us who are still into this thing. :D
My all time favourite would be the yellow or white frangipani, lillies and tuberose.

Others
yes i agree...they prefer to buy those artificial ones as well...
The answer in my opinion is cause most Malaysian are CHEAP
like me XD.
Whats the use of getting live/real flowers when they will eventually die. It is such a waste of money, seriously. When the fake ones are easier to take care off (no water needed) and it can be use over and over again.
i dont know about others but i do appreciate flowers
malaysia doesn't have much flower shop because of low demand of flower.if flower demand is high,of course we can find flower shop a lot.
Gggrrrraaaawwwwlllllllllll! No one is allowed to take flowers from the forest. They are my habitats. Gggrraaaaawwwlllllll.
yeah.. we are more into trees like durian tree, mango tree, cempedak tree, banana tree... etc etc etc.. can name u many more but you wouldnt know them .... they provide us food, shelter and brings in income for some of us malaysian. Its more costly to plant flower plants.
