Is this section for travellers to Malaysia or displays of Malaysian patriotism? |
Travel Info I think someone should open 'we love Malaysia' or 'Malaysians only' section for those who like to rule-out foreigners and fellow-Malaysians who think freely. Travel section is meant to large extent for foreigners and a forigner is able to give better tips to a fellow-foreigner. If the World only wanted to know about certain countries only from local people, why are there professions like 'international correspondent'? Questions about current situation in Malaysia and local customs, laws, tradition, habits, food, etc are travel-related questions. A foreigner travelling to Malaysia should know at least a bit. Questions related to how welcoming are Malaysians towards foreigners are also travel-related questions. And to those Malaysians who insult non-Malaysian participants: thank you for your presence, it makes people from all over the world know how welcome they really are in Malaysia and what kind of treatment can they expect. Travel Tips I agree with you. This IS a travel catergory. Any foreigners wishing to visit Malaysia or know more about Malaysia will visit this site or ask questions, get more info at this site. So subjects like hotels, where to go, what to see, foods, shopping, these are what will interest foreigners & Malaysian wishing to visit other States No racism, personal insults, squabblings, patriotism. Just give them facts. After all, it's Visit Malaysia Year. The government is doing its share to promote Malaysia. So should we. :-) Young wifey - this is a Malaysian forum on travel, not on any other Malaysian subject. It's stated there at the top of this page - TRAVEL. Others Well, yes I understand what you're trying to say, and judging from the recent wave of certain 'issues' surely I'm admitting that what you said is right. And I confess, I've been guilty of showing my patriotism towards Malaysia in quite a few questions lately. But, I only use subtle words, don't know if you read it or not. But, what I can say is, true, this is a Travel section, and just like you said, tourists should know about all things travel-related. It's just that sometimes, especially when reading questions about Malaysian hospitality and such, people (like me) get quite frustrated, as we never did treat foreigners that way. So, you must understand, that when we answer that question, we base our answers on our own experience. Of course, some may answer a bit harshly (hence the insults you mention), but there are others who are just plain befuddled and confused.. The bottomline is, not all Malaysian are like that. Most are polite and goes out of their way to make sure tourists feel welcomed. And I do regret that your experiences here does not give that warm-and-fuzzy-feeling.. Maybe if you just give it a try one more time? Oh well, I might get a few thumbs down again for answering, as my answers prone to do lately, but I do wish you well, AQ. And if I get too emotional next time, I apologise in advance. =) Thanks for reading. You have contradicted yourself, too. 'Think freely' as you have mentioned in your 1st paragraph, ....why cant Malaysians show patriotism? After all this is an open forum. As long as they not indulge in racial slurs or hatred, who cares whether it is about travelling or else. They could defend their country as much as they want. Double standard and personality splits? Think again, please. You are right. Stick to issues related to knowing more about a country in this category (Travel) of Answers. For those who wish to highlight their patriotism towards a country or otherwise, post your questions under Society & Culture or Politics & Government. here we go another racism issue... well listen...no matter this section is for travellers to malaysia or display of malaysian patriotism! it is up to whoever to talk about their issue as long as it is relating to this MALAYSIA FORUM.. and if u really want this sec to be for travellers to malaysia..why don u just go to the travel agencies for god sake!! so stop come out with pissed off issue for malaysian aite im not sayin coz im malaysian! im sayin so tht e.one should avoid racism!! Thank you AQ for thanking them. If they treat foreigners unpleasantly in this forum, what can you expect them to treat foreigners when they see them face to face. I am just wondering...... If I am not mistaken, the other day you posted the question about sexual problems. Pot calling kettle black? It seems... (sigh) |
