Are malay people all the same or are they different........? |
Travel Info i've been there and they all treat me like ****........ i'm a tourist from america and most malay people dont speak english........... so are they all the same?? About English: most of people can speak English but their English is hard to understand (talking generally), although there are some people who speak better English although all but a few make frequent grammar mistakes, such as misuse of tenses, putting -ing forms in present simple, incorporating Malay and Chinese words in English sentences (eg. lah, meh, ma; nasi, kiasu, ganas, sedap...), omitting -s ending for 3rd person singular present simple, not using perfect tenses at all, and of course using rude words (eg. pissed off instead of angry). They also like to stress personal pronouns and use them too often, which sounds rather rude to an English speaker (like "please come to my house tonight" will be "you come to my house tonight ma"). Words like "thank you" and "please" are rarely used. Some of them do know good English, however. It's actually not only foreigners who receive the "four-star treatment" mentioned in your question; some Malaysians also feel that way. Relax, you're in Malaysia... If some of them cannot even behave online, so how can you expect them to behave when they meet foreigners face-to-face? Once I was queuing for a KTM ticket at KL Sentral and there was this Malay guy who decided to skip the queue a bit so he thought jump in front of a foreigner would be the right thing to do, and I had only 2 people in front of me. He was more unlucky as this foreigner is a kick-boxer and the Malay fellow took a Superman flight to land couple of meters away. Then all the people behind me applauded and the boy ran away as fast as he could. My friend, the problem is that many Malaysians are too self-centered to see the way they treat people is wrong. They are raised in constant praise and that's why they feel so special about themselves. Others some speak english and some dont. stop spreading the hate. not all malay people are like what u think majority can speak english sounds like yr some stuck-up fellow .. don't expect people to treat u nicely with that kind of attitude. speaking in general. not siding with anyone just like any other race in this world, some are nice and some are ignorant. Most do speak english. Depends on where you go and whom u spoke to. Living in KL i would say that 10% of people i interact with speaks only Malay. 90% speak english and malay. I agree that malaysians are generally rude and racist as u may find in this travel section. I dont know why they turned out defensive. But anyhow, sorry for your bad trip. yeah, i agree with Shayna. where have you been exactly??bear in mind that Malaysia is a multi racial country not only malay....i wonder why nowadays alot of questions criticizing the malay, & religions? Im not a pure malay, i have chinese, kadazan n arab blood ...so its just so frustrating when there are questions like this.Can we just respect each other huh...is it so hard to do? yes, they are same like americans. but slightly better. |
