Spending money in Maldives?

We are going for honeymoon to the Maldives on one of those all inclusive packages - How much spending money do you think we would need for a 5 night stay there? We plan to Visit Male, cruise around the Islands and do some snorkelling - we dont have any equipment.

Travel Tips

Take your VISA and AMEX cards. You don't need much cash at the resort. Snorkelling fear can be rented at the island resorts and added to your bill.

In Male, when you get off the boat tender (dhoni), there are bank ATM machines to get some local spending money in Male.

Since maldives is nearly isolated from the rest of the world, I think that its going to be pretty expensive.
You are chosing the best place in the world for your honeymoon. I would not recommend sightseeing in Male - not much to see and you (the female) will need to keep covered up even though it is hot. Also, Male is a dry city although you can get alcohol if you ask around. Snorkelling equipment will be supplied free of charge and diving is an average of $50 per dive. You will only need your credit cards for your resort and perhaps a total of $50 cash tips for the staff. You will be able to get cash (dollars) at the resort if you decide you need it. Cruises around the islands are fantastic and usually organised at your resort. There will be a gift shop on your island so again all the purchases will be added to your bill and settled by credit card at the end of your stay. You can leave your shoes in your hotel room for the entire time at your resort. Enjoy! X
