My daughters going to the maldives in july? |
Travel Info she's frightened of crabs and other small insects and she said she was going to take some wellies to wear on the beach.(pink ones) I don't want her to look stupid what else can she do.??????? Travel Tips I was there a couple of years ago and most of the crabs are the same colour as the sand and they move pretty fast when they see you coming. I don't recall any insects at all and the island we stayed on didn't suffer too much from mossies either. As per the previous answer, you can get aqua shoes that will be really helpful, wearing wellies in that heat will be painful and just not practical. Most especially if she is swimming and worried about what is under her. I have a completely irrational fear of what is under my feet when in the sea so I can actually sympathise with her. However when she arrives, she will be blown away by how gorgeous it is over there and hopefully she may feel less anxious. Others Go and enjoy.. I was there a few years ago, yes there is crabs but they are more scared of you than enything. If I remember right there wasn't many flying insects but the might of been mossi's there Make sure she knows not to wear those boots in the water, they could easily drag her under. I don't really think she'll be bothered by many crabs just walking on the beach. She just needs to watch where she walks. If she's really worried about walking bare footed she can get aqua shoes which are meant to be worn in the water. Tell her to have fun, Maldives is supposed to be absolutely beautiful! The crabs scatter when the see you, you get little gekos and lizards as well but their always afraid, wellies??? she must be mad depending on the island you go to you don't even have to wear shoes. She will be taken away with the beauty of that country hopefully she will forget about her creepy crawling fears, but its monsoon season around July weather not always guaranteed. Tell her to chill with her choice of drink Rather than wellies just take some good flip-flops (thongs) for footwear. As you walk on the beach the flip-flop sound will scatter the critters. On the beach you will only see a few critters -- you may wish to prepared her for all the wonderful life under the sea -- by the thousands . It may help her to know the beach life eats plants -- and they will have little interest in her. You should also prepare her for the beauty of giant fruit bats in the early evening. The Maldives has a very active ecosystem. |
