Whats the best way to travel between atolls in the maldives? |
Travel Info i'm hoping to travel between islands to surf. i'm hoping to find the best way between kuramathi and the northern atoll. any advice would be appreciated. Travel Tips To surf several islands you can take a local boat called a dohni -- typically with 15 surfers per boat. You did not mention the resort you are stay at but, The Kuramathi Village is in the North Ari Atoll and is 70 km from the Male airport -- so that is 30 minutes by seaplane and almost 2 hours by speedboat, a dohni would be even longer. I've never thought of the Kuramathi as a surf destination, windsurf yes, but not board. Here are some surf links ... Other Travel Tips Sri Lanka just one click away http://www.colombotown.com Depending on distance apart seaplane is great, some seaplanes do a tour to look for waves and drop surfers of in the water and wait for them to finish, beautiful sea don't spend all your time surfing it, see whats under need you dive the local reefs and enjoy the weather. Watch out for the titan triggerfish they get nasty when nesting, which seems to be anytime of the year. |
