Maldives or not? |
Travel Info I want to go nxt year but my mum says it's too expensive has any one been to the Addu Atoll? Travel Tips ive been to the maldives ,,,its fantasic ..i had to get a sea plane to my island ...it is expensive ..but all inclusive..the food is out of this world ..gaurented hot weather ..and the underwater life is astounding..not been to the addu atoll...went to athuruga ..if u dont go u will regret it lol Others It is quite expensive but there are a range of resorts ranging from a few hundred pounds to several thousand pounds. If I had a choice of one holiday to the Maldives or 3 to Ibiza the Maldives would win hands down. There are good deals to be had ,check out the Mail on Sunday travel supplement..many for around 拢500-拢600 per person. We went to Vabbinfaru (Banyan Tree) expensive but well worth it.The snorkelling and diving is the best in the world ,bar none. The Maldives are a no-shoes, no-news destination. Don't let the chance go by, take it..you won't regret it. Tell your mother you only live once -- don't miss the Maldives in your lifetime. Take your mother with you. With all the trouble in the news each day, a trip to the Maldives will provide a balance in your life and give you a reason to be thankful for what you have. Enjoy. If you dive then I say go if possible. We were there in 2002 and our dive experiences included diving with giant mantas that swam around us close enough to touch for several minutes and diving with a 30 foot whale shark. The whale shark was amazing, we hadn't expected to see one and there was suddenly a shadow over us, we looked up and there was this huge amazing creature hovering over us. It seemed to want to try to eat our bubbles. My memories from there still bring a smile to my face on hectic or bad days. We definetly plan to go again. For the dive sites I would go with what the local dive experts/shops say, the conditions and what is where vary depending on weather, time or year, etc...Where we saw the best stuff wasn't on our checklists but where the local dive shops sent us. We stayed on tiny Machufuchi Island at a not so expensive resort. I hope you get to go and have as fantastic an experience as we did! We came back on friday from the Maldives, and it was amazing my favourite place so far. It was soo relaxing, the snorkling was amazing and the island was really pretty and the service was execellent. We went to Club Faru for 2 weeks all inclusive and upgraded on the plane it cost us 拢3000 and was def worth it. I went with my bf but I am going to take my mum, your mum will love it. Definately try and persuade your mum to visit the Maldives I can promise you both a truly beautifull holiday. there are so many islands to choose from with low med and high prices, if you choose an all inclusive one, money will not be an issue as all your food and drink will be paid for before you arrive.B&B or half or full board does work out to be expensive as there is a service charge on everything you buy. We stayed at Giravaru Island in the North Male Atoll one of the lower priced islands it was stunningly beautifull. Just before we landed a lady behind us ( a regular visiter ) told us to look out of the window, we were stunned by the view, the beautifull blues and greens of the sea with all these little islands dotted about with lush green vegetation in the center of the islands surrounded by pure white sand, it's the stuff of dreams. We landed at Male the capital then we a chose a Dhoni boat to take us to our island, it was a slow and peacefull journey and we had time to take in the views and make friends with everyone going to the same island ( about 12 of us ) as the island came into sight the boys cut the engine and we drifted to the jetty, all you could hear were the exotic birds and the gentle clink of glasses from the bar. We were met by the staff who took our bags and showed us to the reception where we were given very pretty AND tastey welcome drinks and warm lemon scented towels so we could freshen up. We were soon shown to our beach bungalow and so 2 weeks of heaven began, you could feel all the stresses of everyday life just fall away. The Maldivian people are some of the most humble and kind in the world, all they wanted was for us to enjoy our holiday in their country and they did everything possible to make sure we did. We had clean sheets everyday and clean towels morning and evening also at night they would pull the bed down ready for you to get in and leave beautifull flower arrangements for us. Everyday was sunny but one and that day we got together with everyone and had a fun tennis tournament ( even tho' I can't play tennis we had such a laugh ) There was evening entertainment followed by a disco or you could just chill and enjoy the peace and quiet or have a chat with new friends. Although the island was small there was always plenty of space to just have peace and quiet and enjoy the surroundings. The sea is calm and warm as bath water and crystal clear the sand is soft and white. We are so looking forward to going back, we felt safe and secure whereas before we went i wondered if we;d be bored as we dont dive or snorkle ( everyone that did said they were blown away with the underwater beauty ) our Maldive holiday will live in our memory forever. If you can go I highly recomend it and be sure to sit on the left side of the plane with camera at the ready. Please email me if I can help at all. Have you checked TripAdvisor for more reviews on the Maldives and the island you are thinking of ? xxxx Hi, I was in the Maldives recently ... u absolutely MUST go there ... it is worth every dollar! ... any resort in the Maldives is just ur own piece of paradise - and that is not a clich茅 when talking about the Maldives! About Addu Atoll, I don't think there are any resorts in that particular atoll (which is the southern most one in the country); but I hear one is gonna open up there soon too ... maybe by next year it should be open .. A good place to look up all the resorts would be this site - I checked up on that site before I selected my resort. I stayed at Bandos Island Resort and had the time of my life! |
