Travel aboard ship to europe? |
Travel Info I am trying to find a way to travel to England on board ship and back to US. I need to stay a month.all travel agents only promote cruises,and the return date is too soon.We would leave from philadelphia PA and arrive in southampton England.Do not wish to fly! Travel Tips Go to the Cunard website and look at the Queen Mary crossings. I'm not sure what time of year you want to travel, however. You'd be leaving out of New York City (vs. Philadelphia, PA). Can you take a train or bus to NYC? If you only want to leave out of Philadelphia your options will be drastically reduced. SAMPLE: You could take the Queen Mary on April 18, 2007 from New York to South Hampton. You'll arrive in South Hampton on April 24, 2007. You could then get back on the Queen Mary in South Hampton on May 18, 2007 OR on June 6, 2007, depending upon how long you wanted to stay in England. Travel time is about 6 days each way. If you are travelling alone, you can expect to pay around $2,000 to $2,500 each way for the above-mentioned crossings. (Inside cabin). If you travel with a friend, you can expect to pay around $1,400 to $1,700 each way for the same cabin. Of course, you can easily pay more if you want an ocean view or a suite. I'm not a travel agent nor have I been on any Cunard ship. But, transatlatic crossings have always intrigued me. Personally, I'd love to take a Windstar transatlaNtic crossing.
