Best place to live in Manchester? |
Travel Info I'm looking for an apartment in Manchester but I've never been there. I'm trying to narrow down the search and was wondering what are the best/safest places to live that provide good nearby transportation that I could take to work. Thanks!!! Travel Tips was born and bred in manchester, moved away about 8 years ago cos the place has gone to the dogs. dont get me wrong they have spent a lot of money on parts of Manchester to tart it up somewhat, but it dosent change the fact that it is one of the most crime ridden cities in england. car crime is very bad, and every week there is a murder or three in the local paper, steer clear!! Others I used to live and work in manchester, I shared a house in Burnage, it is a safe place, plenty of buses to centre of city, Withington is also not bad, avoid too close to centre and definitely Moss side where it is dangerous. The best place to live is the city centre, there's lots to do and the atmosphere is brilliant. We just moved to Sydney from Manchester (I spent 14 years there). If you don't go for the city, then look round Didsbury, as there's good transport and good pubs and restaurants. The city is the safest place to live. Avoid Longsight, Levenshulme, Rusholme and Hulme as they are places where crime is fairly high. Hope this helps Experience of living in Manchester for 14 years I lived there for a while & would definitly reccommended Didsbury, really safe, good transport & nice area I have a far better option > Move to Leeds instead. |
