well we held the commonwealth games here in 2002, we have a really great night out, great shopping centres, great restaurants, great diversity of people - different ethnicities, religions and cultures etc etc etc - look up manchester on the net
The Olympics, the IRA bombings which resulted in much improved buildings and the refurbishment of the horrible Arndale Centre. Plenty of nightlife for clubbers. Interesting places to visit like The Bridgewater for shows, concerts, eating out etc., Manchester City FC new stadium, Manchester United FC. Try the many good eating places and all the cuisines imaginable, i.e. Chinatown.

Plenty of shops, gorgeous surrounding countryside like Peak District, Lyme Park, Chatsworth, and north to the beautiful Ribble Valley. Cheshire countryside is waiting for you to explore. Forget London, we know how good it is up here (north of Watford Gap).

I cant be bothered doing all your research, but have a look at this site
Brilliant idea - but only if Manchester promises to take on all of London's tourists as well!
I have been to Manchester. It's a really great city with lots of heritage and wonderful architecture. Although it does have an appallingly bad reputation for gun crime and the like, but it is no worse than any other large town or city in the world. I always find Mancunians to be pleasant and polite and they have two football teams to choose from. I,m from Leeds where we don't seem to have a football team anymore, just as well we like Rugby League here too, even if St Helens are the ones to watch at the moment. I think Leeds And Manchester should join forces to defeat the southern stranglehold on this tiny little island of ours. We northerners are much better than southerners.
Well where do i start......we have:
The Lowery at Salford Quays, Across from there we have the Lowry Designer outlets and also the Lowry Hotel. There is the Imperial Was Museum quite close by. Other museums include Urbis - The museumj of urban living, the Museum of science and industry. we have Manchester United Football club (Which also includes a Museum and tour, A very good day out i still enjoy it now and im 19yr old girl who doesnt really like football! lol!), theres Manchester City football club, Sportcity where we have the National Squash Centre, Manchester table tennis centre and the National Cycling Centre. We held the XVII Commonwealth Games. We have the Manchester Art Gallery, The Cathedral, Canals. theres the famours Canal Street for the gay population of Manchester, This is where they hold Manchester Gay Pride, its a festival of events which goes on for about a week (maybe abit longer, not sure!). If thats enough museums and culture for you then you can head to the Printworks for something to eat/drink, watch a flim, or go clubbing. Or why not visit the triangle with all its designer shops or harvey Nicoles. There are loads of other shops in the arndale centre too. oooh dont forget the trams that run through the city center. and last but not least not far from manchester we have Dunham massy Hall park and Gardens, adn also the Trafford Centre with all its shops!

Hope some of this helps, and good look! x
