Are there any Australians living in Manchester? |
Travel Info I am from Sydney but also lived in Melbourne. I am thinking to move to UK next year. Since London is too expensive and crowded (even worse than Sydney). I chose Manchester as my next destination. Are the any Australians who live in Manchester? Can you tell me the pros/cons and the differences of Manchester and cities in Australia pls? Any comments are appreprated. Vicki Travel Tips Manchester is a dirty, depressing, violent hole. If you fancy getting shot, stabbed, robbed and then patronised by the feeble plods, Manchester is the place for you. Others I live near Manchester but haven't actually seen/heard any Australians there since the Commonwealth Games in 2002! There must be some around, surely, though. Or maybe they never venture further north than London. Maybe someone else will know. But you should come to Manchester - you'd get a great welcome up here. I met an Aussie working in the Trafford Centre (Big shopping centre in Manchester) Maybe not a lot of Aussies go on Yahoo in England I know someone who lived in Manchester and then moved to Australia. I suppose it's probably quite similar. I can't tell you that much but I know they enjoyed living in both places. Manchester is a lot colder I would assume, as England is probably a lot colder than Australia. I've never been to Australia, though and I live quite a distance from Manchester. I heard that Australia is very different because people live further apart than they do here. Most people here live rather close together, often in terraced housing in cities or flats/apartments of course. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Manchester's the next most cosmopolitan city in England behind London. Not quite as much so as Edinburgh though - you'll find more Aussies there - but, like London, it's expensive. I think Edinburgh is the best city in the UK - and I'm a Mancunian! |
