How about taking her to the theatre? Theres one near Granada Studios on Quay St, it will be a real treat and its within walking distance from the town centre.

How about a show,there are plenty of good entertainment places around. Get the Manchster Evening News on Friday they have a pull out with all the local entertainment. Have a good day with mum.
Chester is a great place.
You can walk around the city on the wall (about 2 miles).
There are great shops and old fashioned streets.
Lots of cafes and pubs.
There is Chester Zoo where you can spend a day looking around.
It's only about an hour from Manchester, and you can get a train easy.

i'd take her to the cornerhouse.
Try the peak disrtrict easy to get to by train or car and not that far away, castleton is nice.
