Best part of Mauritius? |
Travel Info I was wondering if you could tell me which is the best resort to stay at in Mauriius on the beach please that will offer half-board or all-incklusive? Has to be child friendly as a 14 year old boy will be going too. We also enjoy learninbg the culture and going on day trips. Travel Tips You may wish to consult these websites for hotels: http://www.hotels-in-mauritius.com/... http://www.africapoint.com/hotels/maurit... The East coast is definitely the most beautiful one, to my mind, but may be a bit windy during winter. As for things to do and visits, here are a few suggestions: Tour the Moka Mountainsby quad bike, horse or 4-wheel drive at the accessible 1,500-hectare nature park of Domaine Les Pailles. Travel to the sugar mill and rum distillery by train or horse-drawn carriage before dining in one of four restaurants. Visit L鈥橝venture du Sucre, the Sugar Museum, in Beau Plan; The Naval Museum in Mahebourg; The Botanical Garden of Pamplemousses; Trou aux Cerfs, an extinct volcano; Casela Bird Park; the Black River Gorges National Park, a 6,794-hectare forest, to see indigenous plants, birds and wildlife;. Domaine du Chasseur, one of the best island views, and the best place to glimpse the Mauritius kestrel in the wild; LA VANILLE R脡SERVE DES MASCAREIGNES, commonly referred to as 鈥楾he Crocodile Park', for its thousands of Nile crocodiles. It is the only place worldwide to breed aldabra tortoises and also has deer, monkeys, boar and an insectarium. Discover the Tamarind Falls on the Interior portion of the island, an incredible string of about 7 waterfalls surrounded by green mountains;and the Coloured Earth of Chamarel. SPEEDBOAT from Trou d'eau Douce to the popular island playground of Ile aux Cerfs for beaches, golf and watersports. Or, for a quieter day, sail a catamaran to the Northern Islands - Gabriel Island, Flat Island and Gunner's Quoin. Of interest also is THE AAPRAVASI GHAT historical site, an important symbol of Mauritian identity since the ancestors of more than 70% of present day Mauritian population arrived on the island through this immigrant depot (site classified as World Heritage). Source(s): lm Other Travel Tips we stayed at belle mare plage hotel on belle mare plage. Absolutely superb. You have to go on a speedboat trip (beach touts sell fantastic trips) but do not be conned into just going to le iles aux cerfs, insist you want to go to blue bay. The snorkelling there is second to none on the island and the boat trip is great. Barter for the price! Try and stay on the east coast around belle mare it really is the best. Take a trip to see the waterfalls. Hire a cab for the day and get the driver to show you all over the island so you see the north and west coasts but stay on the east. The best one iv stayed at in all the 3 times iv been is Ocean vaillas, its not that expensive but the apartments are great, and they also have a restaurant and bar. their web site www.oceanvillas.com, also Villa les filaous is great. Let me know if you need their details, the good about these places is that they in grand baie, and thats the best part of mauritius, ask anyone. thats wehre everything happens. The Belle Mare Plage is georgeous, VERY child friendly and has six restaurants, each one unique with superior staff. Great prices for room and board and I know that at least one of the restaurants is included in that, with supplimental charges for the others. There were tons of other children when I was there, but for adults it was still very romantic. There are no green fees if you are a golfer (the links course is awesome) and all non-motorized watersports, like kayaking, are free. There are botanical gardens in Pampelmous (sp?), forests in the south, waterfalls, and even an african animal game reserve on the island. A tour of a sugar factory can be interesting, as it goes through the entire history of Mauritus and your son love the tasting of 20+ types of sugar at the end. For the adults there is rum at the end of the tour also. |
