Can someone please advise us on the best place to stay in mauritius? Prefferably a villa unit on the ocean? |
Travel Info We would want it to be central to a lot of things to do etc.. Travel Tips Mauritius has plenty to do, tons of watersports, all of which are very reasonably priced, shopping at very affordable prices, I personally love the silks, and the Bois Cheri Tea which is grown right on the island. (You can also visit the tea plantation.) Eating out is very inexpensive and the food is great. Some of the best Indian and Chinese cuisine that I have ever eaten. The creole food is very good as well. I recommend that you try the gateaux piments (usually sold right on the street or in front of small grocery stores) and also the Milles feuilles pastries (in the bakeries). We usually stay in Grande Baie because there are plenty of restaurants, water sports, private and public beaches, and they also have their own market which is pretty good and less expensive than the one in the capital of Port Louis. Grande Baie is about 30 min. drive from the capital, and an hour's drive from the airport. Taxis are not that expensive though, and there are also hotel shuttle buses. If you prefer car rentals are also possible at about $30 US per day. There are tons of nice hotels and bungalows as well as private rentals. The island's people are very friendly and cater to tourists. Here are some sites to check out: www.ocean-villas.com, www.visit-Mauritius.com, www.hotelinmauritius.com, www.mauritius-bungalow.co.uk, www.DodoTravelTour.com, www.mauritius-islander.com, www.cap-soleil-maurice.com, www.pasdagence.com, www.annonces-holidays.com. I don't know where you are from, but there are lots of direct flights to Mauritius. I personally have done direct flights from Paris and London. There are also direct flights from Australia. I love Mauritius, lived there for a while. Maybe you can take me along in your suitcase. Have Fun!! Others There is virtually nothing to do in Mauritious. Why are you going there? There are tons of places easier to get to and much better chk on this site http://www.elegantdestinations.co.uk/mau... |
