Travel Info I will visit mauritius from 4th to 7th feb. 07, what sourvenirs must i bringing to Malawi and where to buy? Travel Tips Hope you have fun on your trip to Mauritius. It is a lovely island, you may wish you could stay. For souvenirs, there are various things that may catch your interest depending on what you like. There is a lot of indian culture in Mauritius and so silks, saris, and beautiful cloth is abundant there and at very reasonable prices. Tea is grown there and they have several nice flavors (coconut, mint, tropical fruit, vanilla, etc.) The best brand is Bois Ch茅ri. Essential oils such as coconut oil and various spices are readily available. You can also get various items which have been imported from Madagascar such as hand embroidered tablecloths. They usually have items made from coconut shells (lamps, ice buckets, etc.) and from dried flowers (picture frames, cards). You can also buy such things as shark's teeth (individually or an entire set still in the jaw). There are plenty of shops everywhere. Best places for me are Port Louis/Caudan area, also the Grande Baie Market. Port Louis also has a large market (one side is food, spices, etc. the other side clothing, souvenirs, carvings, and cloth.) Port Louis Market really hikes their prices up though and will try to talk you into paying much more than you would pay elsewhere. At Grande Baie market you normally should pay about half or a little more than what they ask the 1st time. There are also plenty of small shops in Grande Baie and in the area surrounding.
