It's just that I am going to Mauritius at Easter time and I was wondering whether to take chocolate out there or buy it there for my family. xx Travel Tips Hi, I looove your question!! Of course we do celebrate Easter here... And if it's not a public holiday it's because it's on Sunday!!! Most of the Christians take a leave on Easter Monday, and following the tradition, we go at the beach for a loooooooong, sunny, and usually full of song, good food, and sunburns day! For the chocolate.... we do have chocolate here... Be careful not to buy them and to walk too long in the sun with them... Have a good time here! N Others Christians are very much in the minority in Mauritius and as you will see from the attached list, Easter is not a public holiday. http://www.maurinet.com/holiday.html... However, they are used to celebrating all kinds of festivals with people of other faiths than themselves in their homogeneous society, so I imagine that your gift would be most welcome, especially if it is an Easter egg. Enjoy your trip! Easter celebration is not a "country" or "location" thing, it is a religious thing so Easter is celebrated where ever there are Christians and last time I checked, chocolate was not one of the required Easter sacraments but is a basic food commodity. So unless there is a ban on chocolate in Mauritius you need to find out where to shop. |
