Travel Info What's the capital of mauritius and what's the most beautiful village in that 'capital' Travel Tips Port Louis is the capital, named after Louis XV of France. There are various quartiers in Port Louis...but the area that I prefer is Caudan Waterfront. Nice restaurants, nice place to walk, good and 'not so expensive' boutiques. The cruise ships and yachts come in to this area. Just across the main road is the city square, also very pretty along that street (the embassy section of town). Port Louis is generally pretty crowded during the day, a lot of traffic...buses!!...hot and humid in the summer season. But...it is an interesting city. One should not go to Mauritius without spending at least one day exploring Port Louis. The Port Louis market is interesting as well as the chinese section (near the market). Others I know Port Louis is the capital but I don't know what the most beautiful village is, sorry. uuh this is a hard Q.mauritius is a beautiful country. The Capital of Mauritius is Port Louis... there's no village in that Capital... Seems strange?? You must know that Port Louis is great for tourism, horse races, food, shopping... It has lots and lots of offices, parking and an awful traffic at the peak hours. Port Louis is however not a very enjoyable town to live in, there are people living there of course, but the town seems empty during the week ends. The most interesting village in that part of the island is perhaps Grand Baie which is very tourist oriented... Come and have a look!! Well the capital is Port-Louis but its too over-crowded...the most beautiful village I guess is in the south by Le Morne.. Its green, with the forest, curved roads and sandy beaches...
