You didn't explain if you're coming by plane or bus. Let's assume you are taking a bus. The closest entering point for you is Tijuana. indeed, but you can also cross the border at Mexicali, Nogales and Agua Prieta. From there you can take a first class bus to Los Mochis. There are several companies you can choose from. I can mention TAP, Transportes del Pacifico, Estrellas del Pacifico, Turistar and many others. Traveling time between Tijuana and Los Mochis is about a full day, 24 hours. Now, if you fly, it is not possible to take a plane from LA to Los Mochis.
