Is it easy for foreigner to have friends in australia ?

Travel Info
How's the situation for foreigners in terms of having REAL friends ( not superficial ) and getting close to new people ?

Do foreigners suffer from loneliness ?

Travel Tips
foreigners who intergrate make plently of friends. be friendly with the guys at work. drink at the bar. play sport. do a tafe course. whatever! just get out there and meet people and make time for them.
im an aussie living in china atm, so i'm the foreigner here. unfortunately due to the culture gap it is hard to make real friends, but can be done. people are the same everywhere, and that aussie sarchastic black sense of humour can be found anywhere, including here! so if i can find mates in china, (some awesome guys down in sanya...funny buggers) i'm sure u can find good mates in aus :)
good luck and be happy :)
ps, yes foreigners can suffer from lonliness and it is important to have people around u who u can relate too. i travel by bus four hours just to hang out with other foreigners (american, canadian, australian, whatever) just because we relate to eachother better. but u'll find that u can be friends with nearly anyone if you give them a go..
-don't know if that made sense, tired...sorry :(

No it isn't, they hate visible minorities. Can't really blame them after the beach attacks.
Yes, you are not alone. Some people suffer fr loneliness.
I think if you live in a big city which is more diverse, it will be easier.
But, you can go out and try to find a friend.
Go to church or other community activites and do not hesitate to talk to other people.
Good luck...
Yes it is easy - but friendship is a two-way street. You will have to put some effort into making friends. Don't expect people to be your freinds if you will keep to yourself or don't reciprocate the friendship.

We Australians are very sociable and will go out of our way to help people. All you need to do to start is say "hello" and talk to us, join us in a social gathering. Show us your hospitality and we will also show you ours.

Foreigners may suffer from loneliness because they want to have things the way they have back at home or they only want to socialise with people from their culture. Sometimes, language barrier holds them back. You have to realise that Australians DO NOT make fun of you if you can not speak english well. NEVER be embarassed to speak - we are a multi-cultural society and we are very awared of people not able to speak english well.

Go for it. Get out there, get to know people!
everyone suffers from loneliness from time to time.

if you want friends, seek out groups of people that have similar interests to you.

do you like dancing? get dancing lessons.
do you like walking? Join a walking club

you get the idea....

I'm sure that a lot of immigrants suffer from loneliness, but so have I and I have lived here all my life...
I am a foreigner in Australia.... and like in every big cities.... it is not so easy to get good friends.
You start first with you work, the place where you live...
After one friend, it's another one and another one....
But, Melbourne has been the worst city in Australia to meet people and I felt vey londely.
Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane... have been great !!! Aussies are very welcome and friendly
