Travel Info wats up im 19yrs old and live in australia but want a changedont get me wrong i love aus . i have never been out of aus and would love to see the world im currently studing child care but would also love to do nursing . i really want to travel and work especally to america but im worried . what is work like in america in my preferences , is it cheap or expensive , is it easy to get housing . do i have to become a american citizen to work there . please tell me what it is like over there Travel Tips America is WONDERFUL. It has a variety of ideal places to live, depending on what you like. California is expensive - LOTS of people. Nurses are in high demand everywhere, so you shouldn't have a problem. The pay isn't that great for a entry level nurse, however (if that matters). You will be loved here simply because of your accent (if you have the traditional Aussie tone). For some reason, we eat up that stuff. American's seem to like Australians and their culture, so I hope you will come to like ours, too. You will need to go through the stps of becomming a citizen, and that can take up to five years. But you can work if you attain a work visa. Not hard to do. Good luck!!! Others Go to Canada..it's much friendlier. America is cool, but the city is a dangerous place. You are better off in Canada. Better health care there also We desperately need nurses. If you are trained, you could probably be granted a work visa easily. You do not have to become a US citizen. It will be expensive in places like NY, San Fran, LA, DC, etc. The middle of the country is not as expensive. There's something for everyone here. No one will be rude to because you are not American. There's just so many different attitudes and different places to live that I really don't know how to explain what it's like over here. There is some special deal the US and Australia have. I don't know exactly what it is, but you can research it here: http://canberra.usembassy.gov/consular/v... Good luck. :-) Cost varies depending on where you want to live. employment won't be a problem companies are looking for workers all over because our unemployment rate is so low. You do not need to be a citizen if you get a valid visa you will be ok. Let me be the first to say welcome and I hope you have a wonderful time... Americas Ok but kinda dirty and really unhealthy. I would stay in Australlia just maybe move your house or something. If you really want to move though Maryland is my favorite state. You should definitely come visit! It's hard to find legal work in the United States because of all the rules. If you wait until you have a nursing degree then you may be able to get work as a nurse, there's always a shortage of nurses, but be prepared for lots of paperwork and months of bureaucratic delays. It's far better to save up some money and come as a tourist. That way you can move around and find out what you like -- if you're working you pretty much have to stay in one place. It's best to come with a friend to share expenses, because hotel rooms for 2 people are usually about the same price as hotel rooms for 1 person, and you can share other expenses. Especially, you can share the cost of a car. It's hard to get around the US without one. I hope you make it over here, be sure to stay a while! |
