Travel Info Can anyone recommend economical family car under the budget of AUS$ 6000 in Australia (Melbourne) Travel Tips That is a fairly low price and you will have to buy on condition, not model or brand. I doubt you will get anything that is less than 11 years old. At that age stick with the tried and tested - Holden, Ford, Toyota, Mazda. There are so many of these that it should be possible to find something good. Don't hurry and have the car inspected by the RACV. Avoid Honda because they are great when new but do not age gracefully. Ensure things like timing chains and/or belts in OHC engines and fan belts, fan clutches, hoses and radiators are good in all cars. Look for rust.
