What kind of problems do skilled immigrants face when thye first move to Melbourne ? |
Travel Info I have an IT based degree from a UK uni and I am planning to move to Melbourne in 2 years. What I have heard up to this point is sounds pretty good about Melbourne. However I would also like to know what kind of problems will be waiting for some time after arrival. Travel Tips G'day, You got UK background, so you won't have problem with English to communicate. I came from south-east Asia and yes, I was initially struggled with the slang and phrases that I never encountered in my English education before. If your company has a connection in Melbourne, then may be a good idea to start sending your resume to the connections. Trust me, it is easier, since they may be able to get info abt you easier as well from your boss. I did that before I moved to Melbourne. Hope this helps. If you are looking for jobs yourself, I attached some employment website for your reference. Good luck! Source(s): www.seek.com.au www.mycareer.com.au Other Travel Tips Living in Melbourne is not a cakewalk and it depends upon how quickly you gain employment after arrival. It is much better for you to seek employment in advance then to struggle after arrival. Australian born applicants are given preference over immigrants so if there are many IT jobs you have better chance to be in employment. Once you are in employment of your choice other problems viz accomodation, leisure, travelling, food are solved auto -matically. It is always good to have few friends to party in your free time who will also guide you regarding living in Melbourne and how to avoid trouble. At this time you'd have no problems getting a Visa.Who knows what it will be like in 2 years' time. |
