I need to get my Indian drivers license validated by RTO Mumbai for Indian Consulate in Melbourne.?

This is a requirement of VIC Roads as they want my Indian overseas license endorsed by the Indian Consulate who have in turn asked me to get a letter from RTO. Does anyone have any experience in this matter?

Hmmm... not very sure. If I have to guess, it might be this scenario:
1. Your Indian licence do not show how long has you got your driving licence for, so they need verification on how long have you got it. So Indian RTO letter is needed to confirm.
2. You only bring the photocopy of your licence, so need to have it legalised.
3. Your Indian licence is not in English, so need to be translated.
