Recommendations for hotel in melbourne CBD?

Travel Info
I am travelling to melbourne in 2 weeks and am looking for cheap (less than AUD$130) yet reasonably clean and serviced daily hotels.

basically it has to be value for money in terms of location, anemities etc..

I am looking between hotel grand chancellor and atlantis hotel, anyone recommends or have stayed in these 2 places before??

Travel Tips
It really depends on what your standards are. Out of the two, I'd recommend the Best Western Atlantis. It is cheaper (although neither listed under $130 - you'd probably be able to get online discounts) and better quality as well as being on the public transport lines. Although both hotels are in the CBD, both are on the edges - with the Chancellor being the closer to the centre of the two, but in terms of getting around town, the Atlantis has better access to transport.

People who have stayed at the Grand Chancellor, which is near the top end of Lonsdale St, have said that it was "not so grand" anymore and probably less than a 3 star hotel (even though they say it is 3.5),- noise being the main complaint,- room service not up to scratch and not always providing service, sometimes you'd get cleaned room and other times not. The hotel is definitely in need of a MAJOR refurbishment with staining on many of the surfaces. The location is okay - close to Chinatown and the Greek and theatre precincts - some public transport (trams and trains) are within some walking distance.

The Atlantis hotel, and is a clean, tidy hotel which has been converted from offices. (They rate it at 4 stars) Beware that it is a non-smoking hotel. It IS on the edge of the inner city / CBD, on Spencer Street - and is a good base to explore the city as it is opposite the airport shuttle and Southern Cross Train Station, and close to the Victoria Market, the Direct Factory Outlets Centre (both very good cheap shopping), the Aquarium, the Crown Casino, the Telstra Dome, and the Docklands and the free tourist trams, as well as the normal paying trams running out the front of the hotel. I feel that this would probably suit your purposes better.

you can stay in the motel, and it can save lots of money.
i know a cheap motel, and it is a good deal.
the location: Lonsdale St. and King ST. good location, cheap, but only good if you are a guy. most women may not like it, at least i don't like it. convenience, but too close to the table dance club.

P.S.: GST (good and service tax) is 10%.
