Shopping
From locally-designed originals to the best of international brands you'll be spoilt for choice in Melbourne's shopping precincts. Explore department stores and shopping centres and meander through the city's myriad of arcades and laneways.

Food and wine

Melbourne's melting pot of cultures is reflected in its microcosmos of restaurants, cafes, bistros and bars. Fashionable, eclectic and eccentric 鈥?Melbourne鈥檚 dining spots offer a dizzying spread of the world鈥檚 great cuisines, serving meals from the substantial and classic to the truly exotic.
In the city, you can enjoy afternoon tea in the genteel surroundings of a nineteenth-century hotel, watch and be watched in buzzing laneway caf茅s and bars, or handpick a bottle of Yarra Valley chardonnay at the latest 眉ber-chic hangout. Head out a little further and explore one of Melbourne鈥檚 specialist eating destinations 鈥?Richmond for cheap and cheerful Vietnamese dishes, Carlton for Italian classics, Fitzroy for tantalising Spanish tapas.

Bars

The eclectic nature of Melbourne is perhaps best highlighted by the wonderful range of nightspots that pepper the streets and laneways throughout the city. Whatever your taste or budget, Melbourne delivers. From the super swanky to the downright cheap, night owls are blessed with a truly assorted bar scene.
Whether you want to play like the locals, catch world class DJs or are simply in need of a late night feed, the city will not disappoint.

The Crown

The Crown Entertainment Complex offers an unsurpassed range of entertainment and business facilities in one of the most innovative and technologically-advanced sites in the world. From the five star luxury of Crown Towers鈥?484 lavish guest rooms to the luxury shopping boutiques along the promenade to the amazing five storey special effects Atrium, Crown has something for everybody.
Crown's restaurants offer some of Melbourne's finest and most cosmopolitan dining and feature beautiful views of the city skyline and Yarra River. From masterful Japanese cuisine at the award-winning Koko and authentic Chinese dishes at Silks to traditional Mediterranean food in the sophisticated yet casual surrounds of Breezes, you're certainly spoilt for choice.
With a dazzling gaming floor that stretches half a kilometre, cinemas and nightclubs, Crown is always in the mood for fun. Crown also boasts Australia鈥檚 largest and most versatile hotel convention and meeting facilities and an unsurpassed level of service. Just a short stroll from the CBD, sports venues and the arts precinct, Crown is ideally situated to enjoy the international events that Melbourne hosts yearly.

Accessibility

There's car parking in Crown's basement car park, which has entry ramps at Queens Bridge or Kings Bridge, and from Whiteman Street. There's more parking in the multi-deck car park across Whiteman Street, with pedestrian access via a footbridge. Pedestrian access is available from Southgate and footbridges crossing Queens Bridge, Kings Bridge and Spencer Street Bridge. Crown is continually upgrading its access capacity. Accessible toilets are plentiful and well signed, public phones include an accessible phone and TTY phones are available opposite Planet Hollywood and near the Champagne Bar. Gambling tables have been lowered and people with disabilities are given priority access. There are a couple of useful brochures available from the information counters located throughout the complex:
The Crown Entertainment Guide, which includes excellent maps of the complex
Crown Disabled Access, which describes the facilities.

Lost and Found is an eNewsletter that explores the creative spaces, events and places that make Melbourne worth a visit. Volume 1 appeared over five issues from October 2006 and a series of snapshots were released earlier this year. Volume 2 is now upon us and from early June over six issues Lost and Found will once again take us on a virtual exploration of the city through the eyes of some of Australia鈥檚 most fascinating people.
This winter, two world-class exhibitions arrive in Melbourne as part of the fourth annual Melbourne Winter Masterpieces. Contemporary masterworks from the world renowned Guggenheim museum will be showcased at the NGV while AMCI plays host to a collection of works from Pixar, the studio behind some of our most loved animated classics.

The Casino has many interesting shops in there. Your not far from the Art Gallery if that is what you are into or the Museum. The Melbourne Zoo, even going for a drive to Werribee Zoo.
I would definatley experience the atmosphere of The Footy(AFL), either at the MCG or the Dome. Another place to go would be the queen victoria market. Even the Bourke street Mall has some interesting shops and coffee shops etc. I must see would also be the aquarium. Just google things to do in Melbourne adn you find a site that can give you other ideas as well.
Hope this helps.
The zoo and aquarium are both pretty cool if you're into that.. shopping, theatre stuff?

Apparently Dracula's Cabaret is good, but I could never afford to go?!

AFL is a must also, and I really enjoyed the ACMI museum at Fed Square.. there's always lots going on round there too; worth a good look!
