Are there snack cakes (twinkies, etc) in Australia? |
Travel Info I met an Aussie couple at a wedding recently and they said there are no Hostess products for sale in Australia or anything similar. No Twinkies, no cupcakes, snowballs, etc. Is that true? Travel Tips No, not true. We have these items, but they have different names. If 'Hostess products' are 'party-favours' then they are often called by their Italian name, bombenieri, & are more commonly found at 'European style weddings'; cupcakes traditionally were called 'fairy-cakes' & snowballs are everywhere, though the chocolate variety are most commonly found. You can buy Twinkies in speciality stores, though I think I saw them on the supermarket shelf recently. Others You can buy stuff like that in Australia but there is not as much variety and there isn't really a specific brand that makes most of them. You can buy little cupcakes filled with cream, and snowballs and rolls with jam/jelly and cream inside. You can't buy 'twinkies' specificaly but you can get little packaged snack cakes. No sorry, this is Australia, that was all banned after Pearl Harbour. All avenues of Pleasure have been closed off. There are massive taxes on Fat American foods now. It is a jailable offence to be seen walking down the street with a cupcake stuffed in your cake hole, as it seen to be a fat American image. All Fat Americans are banned from here. The bill has just been passed by John Howard. Its known as the Twinkies decision act VII, section 2. Vol 6 Fat foods. Yes, The terminator is right. We are so backwards here that ATMS usage is only for those who earns $100,00 a year upwards and restricted to 5.30pm and 8.22pm on weekends only. Twinkies are available at your local black marketeers but of course I can't tell you where to find them because I will be arrested. We have cupcakes. Bakeries DO exist here in Australia but NO icing allowed because it haas been shown to cause cancer in koalas. So.... if you are coming here to Australia, have a feast on Twinkies for a week before you come so you won't get a craving. And if you believe all that - I have a bridge to sell to you. WHY do so many people know so little about Australia? Don't you people ever watch the TV (we DID host the Olympics in 2000, you know) or learn anything at school or look at websites on the internet? theres no twinking BUT there are cupcakes and snowballs and basically anything that the US have when i went to america this girl said to me DO YOU RIDE TO SCHOOL ON KANGAROOS?? DO YOU HAVE TV?? DO YOU HAVE SODA?? DO YOU HAVE MONTHS?? and im like YESS we are not are poverty stricken country There is sadly plenty of junk food here but who needs that garbage anyway? And is there no end to the ignorance of Americans? |
