Melbourne suburbs? |
Travel Info Hi, just wondering what suburbs in Melbourne (close to the CBD) would be the best safety wise and price wise for a young student looking for share accomodation. I've lived only in Brisbane but am looking at moving to Melbourne next year and just checkin it out atm. Any info regardless of relevance would be great! Thanks Travel Tips Try North Melbourne and Richmond ! Both are on good frequent tram routes and are very nice inner suburbs. They both have excellent local amenities and are reasonably quiet. When I say North Melbourne I advise you to seek out the area around Errol Street and close to the Victoria Markets. With Richmond, anywhere in and around the Bridge Road area is very good. In East Richmond the community is mainly Vietnamese who are great people although if you are not of this culture you may feel a little misplaced. However, that said the "Little Saigon" community are some the nicest people I have lived among, worked close to and was a regular patron of their hard working good businesses. You will find both of the suburbs I have suggested to be excellent to live in and their should be a good amount of house share opportunities there. Check out local ads in internet cafe notice boards and each local council district has it's own weekly "Leader" group newspaper hosting ads for accomodation. Source(s): Melbourne Resident 50/50. In Thailand. Other Travel Tips Yarraville is nice, and cheap, but not sure if it is near the CBD as I don't know what CBD stands for. Hey! I moved from Melbourne a few years ago and grew up in the inner eastern suburbs (Camberwell/Hawthorn) Even though these suburbs are not cheap, they are safe. I would look around the Richmond area. |
