just read the street directory & plan your own
www.whereis.com is definately the best option. Get yourself a MELWAYS street directory. Look out for the BLUE Citylink signs and avoid those roads like the plague - they cost $. If youre traveling South east of Melbourne, the Princes Hwy is a good option.
Have to agree whereis.com is the best way. I used it last year and had no problems.
