I will be going to Melbourne for a couple of days in July with my family ( lots of kids involved)? |
Travel Info I would like to know the best places in Melbourne to visit with Children. Other than that what is Melbourne famous for. Travel Tips Considering the time of year, I'd be looking for indoor activities. Sciencworks is really cool. It's an interactive museum and the kids get to touch stuff. They love that. THe aquarium is cool. Outdoors, there is the Melbourne Zoo, totally worth going to if it's a nice day. I love the elephant enclosure. There is a childrens farm in Collingwood. A very big swiming centre at Albert Park (used for the Commonwealth Games) Others melbourne race course is a nice area to let kids run wild and enjoy themselves, harbours are always interesting and some of the older churches and buildings may be of interest. You could always contact a school with children of the same age and ask them to show you all around, this may not just be enjoyable but have a continuing pen pal interest. sharky Melbourne Zoo Considering how cold it will be (and wet) at that time of year you could try the Museum, there is a great kids section to the left of the entrance and entry is free for adults who are teachers. Have a look at Fed Square, where you can see the Commonwealth Games display and the Australian Centre for the Moving Arts often has animation and kids films. Have you got a car? This might sound crazy but the big IKEA store is okay for parents and kids if you can drive there, it's a couple miles from the city along Victoria street. Good cafe and some play equipment. My daughter (10yo) enjoyed the Melbourne Aquarium for 7 hours. Melbourne Museum nice. She enjoyed riding trams a few times. East of Melbourne near Dandenong is a train ride. Don't know where you are coming from, but if you consider Phillip Island 'part of Melbourne', the penguin parade is enjoyable. |
