Is living in australia as a student difficult?

Travel Tips
This is my 7th year in university, and I have done from diploma to bachelor to honours to masters to the current ongoing phd. Life is not so hard as a student if we do not compare ourselves to others... there are always people greater and lesser than us...

My bachelor years was as an international student and that was very tough. I had a very limited budget and live quite a walking distance from university. I had to buy the cheapest food, pay bills late, use a really lousy computer, deal with crappy housemates, work very hard to not disappoint my family which sent me with their life savings. But I had a wonder time, of discovering the unique side of a foreign country, had great fun friends, had lots of freedom, and I was focussed and happy.

Then there came honours and a preliminary masters. Life financially was very much better as I had a steady income from part-time work. Pretty much the same for my student life right now. Sometimes I ask myself whether I could have done better, thinking less, working in industry earning more money, not mixing with the university crowd... But that is another story...

i dont think so...
*you have to stand up for adults on public transport,
*the report cards now only give you A's if you are woking more that one year above what you should be

NOT at all...

As a students, u get privileges on may things especially on transportation; such as discounts (trams, trains and buses), just by showing your student card. U R also allow to work part time but musn't exceed XX hours. Frankly speaking, if u work more that that, whos care?!!

My live in Melbourne is really so memoriable and enjoying... I would like to be a student again.... ;-)

Sorry, i am not the advertisement agent for Australia or particully Melbourne!!
I don't think so. The life here is actually very peaceful, clam and at the same time interesting. Are you going to be a local student or international student?

I am currently an international student in Melbourne (I assume you are interested in Melbourne since you subcategory this Qns in Melbourne). However, I have many Local OZ friends as well.

Melbourne is a beautiful and neat city. The weather is carzy sometimes, But it is absolutely romantic city. The transportation is also very convenient here. If you would like to own a car here, Traffic is not to pack (except for v.busy hours). Traffic signs are also very useful.

As a local student, you can get many concession card. You can get discount in public transport, health services or other public services that allows you to use it.

however, as a international student, you will hardly feel homesick in melbourne. It is a very multicultural city.you can also work here for 20 Hrs/week if you apply for student work Visa.

Talking about entertainment, I am not a fan of clubbing and bar. But I can tell you that there are a lot organises who is targeting student. It is an advantage because you get lots and lots of discount. Example, Asian nite, japanese night, german nite, korean nite, socceros nite etc etc...

So in conclusion, being a student here is such an advantage with all the discount and the environment to learn and adapt to a change environment. I hope my answer is satisfying enough.
Spent 3 years @ Griffith University (Brisbane). First semester sucked, 2nd semester got better, and after the 3rd I didn't want to leave... but I had to, and now I want to go back :(
