Going to Melbourn, Aus. in August. Intend travelling to Brisbane via car hire. What is cheapest car hire avail |
Travel Info Heard that you can deliver car back to hire car company in another city free of charge - assume you pay petrol and insurance. Anyone heard of this? Intend stopping at various cities/towns on route. Travel Tips I am interested in race relations in Australia....as recent as the 1970's, Australia was still kidnapping and virtually enslaving children the country categorized as "Half Caste", (Aboriginal and White), placing them in "Schools", where they were taught how to serve White families. When you go, I'd be interested in hearing how Aboriginal relations are enacted presently.... Others The free car thing is all but a hoax...hire companies have their own arrangements...$29/day (aus) is the cheapest i've seen here in Brisbane (hyundai getz) You could find out by using price match at the address below. But I doubt you can get one free http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mary.summer... yeah you can do that. i find personally that Europcar is the best and cheapest here in Melbourne. driving to Brisbane is a long trip... but very good. i grew up on the Pacific hwy (the coastal hwy... best way to go) at a small town called Taree. U by-pass it now. A few places you should check out on the way up is Eden (on the Princes Hwy - also coastal) most gorgeous place i have been here in VIC. Also in NSW stop at Foster, Port Macquarie, or Coffs Harbour. Coffs is a little more touristy but Foster would be my choice... spent a lot of time there when i use to live up there... great... beautiful... and is also touristy... not as bad as Coffs... and Port Macquarie is also a bit touristy, bigger then Foster but smaller then Foster... very scenic up there... you are going to love it! i am jealous... hehehe www.rentabomb.com.au Not sure about their return policy or even if their cars are allowed out of state, but worth checking out. I've always used Budget myself. Very good. If yr staying for any length of time pop down to an auction and pick up a beat up holden or ford. they go on forever! also back-packers sell their cars at various places real cheap at the end of their "tours". i picked up a 68 V W beetle in perth with 158,000 miles on the clock for $800 Aus. then drove it "Up and Over" (the real hard way) put another 18,000 on the clock and sold in Kings Cross (Sydney) for $1000. it never ever let me. and if it did you would have a whole load of friendly aussies stopping to help! |
