Will I be able to cover my living expenses while studying in Melbourne.? |
Travel Info I will be studying computer science for two years starting from july 2006 and I am ready to do any kind of job which will help me cover my living expenses (20 hours a week). Some people say that it is difficult to find a job in melbourne and I am really scared. Please provide me with some information about student jobs in Melbourne. you can also use my email address alem_traveller@yahoo.com. thank you in advance. Travel Tips Others start checking the local newspaper. look for nanny postions that offer live in stay. also look for roommates near your campus that will share the rent. check local shelters. find out if you have a family that lives near there,. there also a lot of government grants that will pay your rent or most of the home puschures as a studen you only allow to work 20 hour per weel but many people were over work, 10 t0 17 dollar per hour you get, the best is do not work long hour in a same place, many a place work for 4 hour in seprately. you neey to apply work permit at the ambassy is aronud 55 aussie dollar. don't worry the people in melbourne is very friendly and kind, there are lot's of job apportunity, you can go to job agency or go searching job by walking your feet, hosbitality job is must more easy to find, or look at the news paper. if you can 2 job in melbourne you are definitely can survive. Inner city living is quite expensive. Jobs are not that difficult to find, depending on your qualifications. If not too fussed about where you work, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants that are always eager to employ new staff! Good luck! So long as you have the correct visa to work in Australia, you will be able to find work in Melbourne. You have to have the right attitude, and that is that when you need money, work is work. McDonald's, KC, supermarkets etc always need workers and often have a high turn over of staff. Good luck. as long as you're not fussy about what you do you should be right. depending on where you're studing you can always pick mushrooms in mernda. i know that a lot of students work there.the agency that gets the staff is called 'one force' and another one is 'westaff' they're always advertising. good luck. Sure you can, the best place I can think of is the University. I did my Masters in University of Melbourne in 1998-1999 and I got a job as a tutor in the Uni. They pay well and you can concentrate on your studies as well. The pay was enough for me to cover my living expenses. Alternatively you can find jobs in Coles or at McDonalds as someone else suggested. But the Uni is the best bet. |
