I've heard from a lot of friends who are now in australia (molbourne specifically), that there is a real shortage of doctors? is this true and if so why?
is melbourne uni a good place to study medicine?

i may plan to pursue medicine in australia and umelb and just wanan get the low down before i do anything. thanks guys.

Yes, there's not enough doctors OR nurses, pretty much anywhere in the country!

Melbourne actually has one of the world's best universities to study medicine- try Monash University. Have a look at their website. Good luck!

Well I live in Brisbane and apparently the doctor problem relates to the fact that there's not enough places at our medical schools... not sure about Melbourne, though.
Melbourne University is the best university in the country. No one else even comes close.

As for shortage of doctors....yes there is.
i don't know about dr's, but it does appear as though there is a shortage of popcorn in melbourne....I wonder why. could it be that those in the front row are hogging all the popcorn? :-)
Yes Melbourne has one of the best uni's for Medicine but you should look elsewhere as well. Here in Adelaide we have Flinders University. ( one of the best in the world, beside Monash) and no I don't have anything against Melbourne people
Yes there is a shortage of doctors particularly in the rural areas. I would duggest you to study Medicine at the Monash University campus. They have a better medical program than Melbourne University.
