Why is Australia known to have a lot (and I mean a lot) of GAYS? |
Travel Info Can you share a penny of your thoughts? These are the comments from my friends and acquaintances. Whenever I mentioned Australia (in which I am relocating soon), it's either its a RACIST country and there are a lot of GAYS. Travel Tips Probably the same proportion of gays in any other community. However Australians, particularly in Sydney, are pretty relaxed about gay people. And we have the biggest gay pride march in the world every February. It is a pretty tolerant place. If we have a reputation for racism it is because we lacerate ourselves publicly for it, instead of ignoring it as many countries do. Others Maybe because...hmmm. maybe it's always mentioned that there are a lot of gays because...THERE ARE A LOT OF GAYS. i'm from australia, and i've never heard that there are a lot of gays. doesn't every country have a lot of diverse different lifestyles. as for the racist thing that's a bit of a generalisation, doesn't every country have racists as well. ignore these comments, they are uninformed generalisations. Australia probably has the same proportion of homosexual people as anywhere else in the world; it is because they are not repressed and are accepted by the majority of the community that the number appears greater then in countries where there is less personal freedom. In those countries gay persons cannot "come out" and have to practice their choice of relationships illicitly, or suffer great psychological damage by pretending to be straight. because the government gave in to their whining and decriminalised their disgusting activities media Maybe its because your friends don't know what they are talking about. Ive never heard these things said about Australia, quite the opposite in fact. I'm not sure what country you are from, but the amount of gays in Australia is just like everywhere else, and Australia has a very multicultural atmosphere. Sure there have been a few riots in the north of late, but that's just due to a bunch of morons which I'm sure most countries have. Australia is a very well balanced country, not racist and not swarming with gays. |
