Sydney or Melbourne? |
Travel Info I am migrating to Australia and have to choose one of them. Can somebody please compare them in term of education of children, public transport system, housing (public and private), jobs (I am a web developer), general life style. Travel Tips Sydney is abit more multicultural, Sydney has a much much better education system, in both private and Public, and better UNI and tafe systems, people travel from all over the country to attend Sydney UNI... people from Sydney with low HSC scores travel to Mel for UNI.... Public transport in both states are excellent (only compared with the rest of Australia) The housing is on average about 100-200K more expensive in Sydney and the public housing in Sydney is terrible and a long way from the city (but if you are employed you would have trouble getting public housing anyway)...life is busier in Sydney but there is alot more to see and do...The weather is better in Sydney, but Melbourne does have a large arts culture and a more even paced way of life....plenty of work in both cities for IT related jobs.... pros and cons for both... good luck Others Melbourne, hands down. Sydney is bigger and certainly cool but Melbourne is the place to live. I'd probably agree with Melbourne, though apparently Melbourne is the next major terrorist target. Melbourne, it has a general better standard of living therefore all those things you ask about follow naturally. It's also richer in natural history whereas Sydney seems intent on overlooking its past in the name of progress. Just my opinion Melbourne Sydney doesn't even compare. I have lived here for 25 years and it's the greatest place on earth. It's won 'Worlds Most Liveable City' several times. Im a Melbournian More stuff to do in Sydney... Just got back from there and was never bored... |
