Advice on moving to Australia? |
Travel Info I'm thinking about moving to Australia in February for 6 months or so to do some teaching. Does anyone who has done something like this recently have any good advice on things I will need to do before I go? Travel Tips Check with the Australian Embassy in your nearest capital city. Australia has set standards for teaching to be met and requires certain standards of training. You will also need to pass a "working with children" police and licence check. Australia is also strict on overseas working visas and usually doesnt give them out for longer than 3 months. Others If you support President Bush then your in terrible. Depends on where your going to teach in Australia. First, you will need a visa if you want to work in Australia. If you are no older than 29 years, you can apply for a working holiday visa, which is easy to get (check that you are elligible first, age and country of origin is the main criteria). www.immi.gov.au If you are older, then you will have to apply for a work visa, either skill migrants or be sponsored by the company/school that will hire you. Again, more info at www.immi.gov.au Then, of course, you will need a teacher dilpoma/degree (whatever) and relevant experience or no one will want to hire you :) that all you need to know. Australia is a fun country to explore and live in, you can discover the rest as you go. People are friendly and easy to talk to you, so no worries mate :) been living there the last couple of years Have a look at the web site below - it will answer many of your questions and has links to other sites you will need. http://www.teachingaustralia.edu.au/ta/g... visit www.immi.gov.au |
