Id like to stay at town to get some information and spend time for christmas. And few day, Id like to stay at the hotel which is by the beach. which back packers do you recomennd? Travel Tips A "Dorm Room" is accomodation in a room with usually 4-8 dorm beds (bunk beds) in it. There are also some hostels that have even larger rooms, with dozens of beds, but those larger rooms are becoming rarer & rarer. A "Budget Room" is likely a small room, perhaps VERY small, with usually just a bed and if you're lucky maybe a nightstand or small desk. It may or may not have a private bathroom. Usually such rooms have a shared bath between two rooms, or a bathroom for the entire floor or a large portion of that floor. In most cases, the only difference between the dorms and the more budget focused rooms is that in the budget rooms, you get a little privacy. And it might be less noisy, so you can better sleep. Others I think a dorm room is intended for college students. Dorm rooms are shared rooms with other travellers. They usually have either 4,6,or 8 beds in each room and usually have bunk beds. You can get bigger dorms (rooms with more beds) and usually the bigger the dorm the cheaper it is to stay per night. Budget room could mean anything so check with the specific backpackers you are looking at. It could mean a shared room or room with shared bathroom. Check out lonely planet website for backpackers by the beach in Melbourne and tripadvisor for honest reviews by people who have stayed at particular places. If you are looking for a backpackers in Melbourne, I highly recommend the Greenhouse Backpackers on Flinders Lane. It is, however, near the main attractions and not close to the beach. The reason I recommend this place is for the atmosphere. The people were not party animals and you could actually get some rest. Many of us were severely jetlagged and just wanted some quality sleep. A lot of people were on a working holiday visa so you meet people who are more grounded and less into the drugs and booze scene. There are many social activities readily available so that you can explore the city with others in your group. There is also a free cold breakfast (cereal, toast, tea) and a pasta night. Great way to get social and to settle in. I paid $27 AU for a room in a six bed dorm. It was fine and I enjoyed talking to other travellers. Try and get a room that has windows so you don't feel claustrophobic. Dorms share budget room will be dingy but on your own. I stayed at a hotel in Melbourne which had seperate entrance and kitchen for backpackers but was great and not too expensive beware some hostels are murderous stay in st.kilda beside the beach.loads of cheap places to stay there.i reccomend coffee palace.think ackland st is the street it just off.plenty of cheap bars n places to eat and travel shops etc. theres usualy a free pick up from the air port n bus station to get there.n it get jobs sent into the reception each mornin if u need a couple of days 2 make cash.have fun |
