What's the best transport if I want to travel from Adelaide to Melbourne? |

Travel Tips As I have travelled alot to Melbourne for training for the Commonwealth Games (and many of them was for one day) I recommend you drive over to Melbourne. Now It might not be the Cheapest but look at it the way I did when I went over there. If you take the train you don;'t see that much really. Sure you see the country side and you may even see the big Koala. And you need to hire a taxi or a car to take you anywhere outside of Melbourne.And it cost you alot if you go on the tours to see the sights If you fly by plane, then you don't see very much at all. When you arrive in Melbourne you need to get a taxi back into Melbourne and it is a fair hike back to the city. And once again, you need acar to see anything outside of Melbourne. So if you take your car, you can drive anywhere you want to, you can stop anytime you want to, and you can stay or leave when you want to. Take it from me, if I didn't have my car whilst I was in Melbourne I would have been lost. My other friends took the train, and they all said they wished they could have taken their cars with them. Others Well it depends on how many of you are going. If it's just you I would say plane or train, planes to Melbourne are so cheap these days and it only takes about an hour. Trains are even cheaper but not a very comfortable way to travel, so I've heard. If there are a few of you driving is probably the cheapest way to go. The first half of the trip is BORING. Flat, dry, paddocks as far as the eye can see. But if you take the Great Ocean Road to Melbourne you will see some stunning views including the Twelve Apostles - famous rock formations on the coast. There are some very gorgeous little towns along there too. It's a lovely drive and probably worth the excruciatingly dull first half of the trip. The whole drive takes about 8 or 9 hours (at the speed limit) with a few short stops. Have fun and a safe trip : ) Train or coach would be the cheapest, if there is only one of you (hiring a car could be cheaper if there are more travelling together). It's about 800 kilometers (500 miles). Both train and coach tend to cut inland somewhat and so you miss the Great Ocean road which is one of the World's great car journeys. The Overland is the train route and the proces are variable, but down to about $59 per person one way. It departs in the morning, getting you to Adelaide that evening. If you've got time to travel I would say that traveling in the Great Ocean Road is the best way, but I heard that could be lots of traffic there and it could be hard to get a hotel. Traveling by train is really boring, and not comfortable. Plain could be the good choice if you have the money and you want to do it quickly. The prices are really expensive now, but if you'll wait till the middle of January you'll get very good prices. The choice is yours - have a fun holiday!
