Moving from Melbourne to Darwin? |
Travel Info I am flying from Melb to Darwin but need to get a couple of boxes of clothes up there...V/Line doesnt do freight anymore they told me, what is the cheapest way...any specific contact numbers for getting my gear there. Travel Tips Cheapest way would be to contact the house removals companies and ask if they have any "back loads" to do from Melbourne to Darwin. This is where they remove a whole house load of furniture one way - then get a number of smaller items to try and make some money on their return trip. Try a national firm like Pickfords(132554) or Grace bros(131442) but you could also try the Darwin firm "Lalors".(1800 004 437) Others Did you try Virgin Blue air freight? I know freight goes by rail from Adelaide to Darwin, so if you can get your boxes there you should be able to arrange transport. Also, GSR runs trains between Melbourne and Keswick (Overland), and then from Keswick to Darwin (Ghan). I've never ridden them, and they are probably passenger trains, but you might can have somebody cart a couple boxes of clothes with them. call a few transport companies to see if they go to Darwin if not they will tell you who does & then deliver your boxes to the trucking depot for transport & pick them up in darwin |
