Suburbs in Melbourne?

We are looking to move to a different suburb of Melbourne.We are thinking of coburg,northcote,preston,ivanh... etc.What are these areas like,are they safe? what type of people live there.Any help appreciated.

any of the suburbs in the north west are alright, although like any suburb you can get the problems with people. most of the western suburbs are ok, tullamarine is one, its close to melbourne airpot. moonee ponds, ascot vale, pasoe vale, essendon, avondale heights, keilor are also good

well i am not in Melbourne a few miles away but i heard that Springvale is quite nice and Box Hill
I have friends in Northcote and have stayed there many times. It is fine but it can be quite a walk to the nearest pub.
