Can anybody help a student (Holmes) to get cheap accomaodation in Melbourne, Australia? |
Travel Info The student is ready to live in a group. He will arrive after 15 th May 07. Please give a detail of cheap accomodation. The accomodation should preferably be near to Holmes Institute on Spring Street Travel Tips G'day, I'm not quite sure I understand with what you means by 'live in a group'. I guess the student does not mind living with others. I think my previous answer abt accommodation will still be the best solution, especially the Global Village, as it is located abt 10min walk from Holmes college. However, since Holmes college is located right-smack in the CBD Melbourne, then even the flat/apartment rental are very high. Some students who study in Melbourne institutions (eg RMIT or Uni of Melbourne) would prefer to live in the suburbs, away from the CBD, since it is cheaper to rent a flat and share. However of course you have to calculate the public transport (which is not very expensive) cost. Some suburbs that are students favorite are North Melbourne, Hawthorn, Carlton, Kensington, Caulfield, Malvern and Richmond. However this means that the student will need to have a short-term accommodation (suggested: Victoria Hotel in City), and then take his time to find shared accommodation with friends or from the notice board in campus. Hope this helps. Good luck :) Source(s): Online Map: www.whereis.com.au Public Transport info & fees: www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au Other Travel Tips google- cheap accomodation melbourne im from melbourne and i know there are a few hostels in the city but if you want a motel your looking at minumum $110 per night if your lucky |
