What is Richmond, Melbourne like to live in? |
Travel Info What is Richmond, Melbourne like to live in? Travel Tips I lived in Richmond for just over 8 years, and I'd recommend it as a place to live. Of course it depends on what you are looking for. Almost anything you could want is within walking distance, which is just as well, because driving and parking can be tricky. Public transport services are also excellent for those times when you need to leave Richmond. I wouldn't say that Richmond is a great place to raise kids - there's just not much room to let them run free. If you need it to be dead silent to be able to sleep then its not for you either. Oh, and Victoria St is reputed to be the second worst spot in Melbourne for drug dealers, but thats cyclical, depending on where the cops are cracking down. Others I don't live in Richmond, but I live sort of close. Richmond has some great area's, some cheap, some expensive, but always close to the city. There's a large asian strip full of restaurants/bakeries/butchers/... n veg shops. There's another strip with a couple of good pubs (bars) on it. Another street with clothing and other factory outlets. If you're looking for a house/apartment www.realestate.com.au is a good place to start, either for renting or buying. I dont live their either but spent a few days there for work about 2 years ago and I really like it- probably more so than the other areas of Melb I have been too the people and feel of the place just kind of clicked me whereas I found other places more in the category of ok/nice place to visit but wouldnt want to stay there- but Richmond... nup I liked the place. It's an inner-city suburb, great place to live if you don't have a young family. |
