What does PRINCIPE mean?

Travel Info
I am studying spanish, what does PRINCIPE mean? anyone know?

Travel Tips
there has been a historical figure with that nickname...some British prince that was called that, I just can't remember who...
anyway,
El Principe Azul is a fairy-tale figure; he comes riding on his white stallion to rescue the imprisoned/dragon-breath-swath... princess from her ivory tower and carries her off to the sunset...(or was that John Wayne?)
This time and age, the principe azul for some third-world women seems to be a loaded gringo/european who'll after much travail finally comes through with the spousal visa and transports her to a Des Moines or Daytona Beach suburb to watch American soaps all day long while the prince is working his shining butt-armor off for her (high) maintenance.
Sometimes, these tales have a happy ending. That's what keeps us going.
Cheers,
Desi
